Here are some great young people who discuss anxiety, depression, self-harm and eating disorders on Youtube.

5. Zoella | Zoe Sugg

As one of Youtube’s most popular, bubbly personalities, you might not instantly associate Zoe with anxiety. However, she has always been open with her 3 million subscribers about her anxiety disorder. In this video, she discusses her panic attacks and coping techniques in and how her anxiety is gradually improving.

Laura is a recovering self-harmer makes videos about her own experiences, and discusses eating disorders, anxiety and depression as well as the importance of self-love and accepting yourself in general. Her jolly Geordie accent and real-talk attitude have won her over 54,000 subscribers, making her one of Youtube’s most popular mental wellness bloggers.

5. LejeuneLaura | Laura

While it’s great to hear from sufferers first-hand, it’s also great to get an expert’s input. Cue Kati Morton – a fantastic therapist from California who makes simple, no-jargon videos about how to recognise mental illness and help people we know with it.

Lily provides honest, no-fuss blogs, discussing her eating disorder. Her frequent anorexia updates talk us through her time in and out of hospital, and what helps her progress. At times her videos feel a little bit like a therapy session, and can be very triggering to fellow eating disorder sufferers, but they provide a great window of insight into the mind of an anorexic.

This cheeky Irish fellow writes pop songs and makes hilarious collaborative videos with other Youtubers, but also frequently discusses his on-going battle with depression. He also makes inspirational videos where he directly addresses his viewers, providing words of hope and encouragement.
