A helpline for women who self-harm has been re-established, after it was given new funding.
Bristol Crisis Service for Women, which broke away from the rape crisis service in 1988, had operated a helpline previously. But for the last three years it has only been able to run a text and e-mail service, for girls and young women up to the age of 25.
The Tudor Trust has now given Bristol Crisis Service for Women enough money to run a phone-in helpline for the next three years.
Naomi Salisbury, 34, who has worked for the service for nearly two months, said: “We’re really pleased to have received the funding. The vast majority of people quite often have a feeling they can’t talk to anyone.”
Women and girls will now be able to speak to volunteers who have personal experience of self-injury.
