ChildLine has reported a significant rise in the number of children and teenagers seeking help for eating disorders in the last three years.

Adrian Brown, a spokesperson for the NSPCC, said that this is because of the successful online “Chat” service, where counsellors offer one-to-one informal conversations on their website.

“With better understanding of the problems and ChildLine now offering online chats, which can be easier than picking up the phone, more young people are seeking help.”

Adrian sad: “[the increase] is partially down to us now taking contacts online where young people are more likely to talk about darker issues meaning more of what has already been there is revealed.”
